Global power like Britain has an moral obligation to assess, reassess & assert it's order & rules of institutions, which it had put in place over the centuries, at lot of cost to all & everyone. It is also obliged to counter threats to the existing order, from adversaries with malefic intentions of usurping the benefits of order, while undermining the very institutions they intend to destroy & replace with nothing in return, which current order sustains in spite of all its' shortcomings.
